How to reduce metal sheet distortion during the use of a shearing machine?

The shearing machine uses a moving upper blade and a fixed lower blade to apply a shear force to metal sheets of various thicknesses with a reasonable blade gap so that the sheets are broken and separated according to the required size. The shears can be divided into pedal type (manpower), mechanical shears, hydraulic pendulum shears, etc. Shears are often used to cut sheet blanks with straight edges. The shearing process should be able to ensure the straightness and parallelism requirements of the sheared surface of the sheared sheet and minimize the distortion of the sheet to obtain high-quality workpieces.

Before the shearing machine works, the cutting edge of the blade must be kept sharp. If the cutting edge becomes blunt or cracked, it should be sharpened or replaced in time. The knife plate should be fastened firmly, the blade must be close to each other, and the upper and lower knife plate surfaces should be kept parallel. After adjustment, manual turning inspection should be used to avoid accidents. The blade gap should be determined according to the thickness of the sheared steel plate, generally between 5 and 7% of the thickness of the sheared plate. Every time the gap is adjusted, the flywheel should be turned by hand to make the upper and lower blades reciprocate once, and the gap is checked with auxiliary measuring tools. Fit properly to prevent the spring from breaking or damaging the cutting edge.

The feeding of the shearing machine should be positive, flat, and stable. Keep your fingers away from the cutter and platen, and pay attention to the safety of your fingers when feeding, especially when a piece of material is cut to the end, do not put your fingers under the material or feed your fingers into the cutting edge. If the material head is less than 200mm, manual cutting is not allowed, and an auxiliary tool for folding should be selected for cutting. A protective fence should be placed on the shear trigger to prevent the operator’s hand from entering the area where the scissors fall. The protective fence cannot block the operator’s eyes and cannot see the cutting part. It is strictly forbidden to pick up waste on the ground during work, so as not to be injured by falling workpieces. The waste generated after the operation has edges and corners, and the operator should remove them in time to prevent being stabbed and cut.

The moving parts such as the belt, flywheel, gear, and shaft of the shearing machine must be equipped with a protective cover. Always pay attention to whether there is an abnormal failure of the clamping mechanism, clutch, and brake. When cutting, you should concentrate on it. If you find any abnormality in the equipment, you should stop cutting immediately, cut off the power supply, and notify the relevant personnel to repair it. To ensure safe production and improve work efficiency, if personal equipment accidents occur, the site should be kept and reported to the relevant departments.
